Today’s instalment of meet the team is Chris – let’s find out more about him, his role, background, and interests!
So Chris, what is your role at SMS?
I am a Technical Support Engineer.
What do you enjoy about the work you do?
The variation of what you can be dealing with and resolving issues that have caused great concern to customers.
Why should a potential customer choose SMS?
Many of us have been in the industry a long time, not only does this bring fast responses to common issues but it also serves as bedrock that guides investigations in more unusual issues. Additionally many of the products are used by ourselves as a company so there is some expertise in the use of it.
I know you have extensive technical knowledge and lots of experience with the products we offer. Referring to this knowledge and experience, why do you think customers should purchase a solution like, Acronis Cyber Protect?
It is often an assumption that with cloud services that end user data is backed up and held securely. Whilst it is held securely, backups of that data are normally expected to be managed by the end user. Acronis is a product that we decided to offer that has been in the backup industry for a while. It integrates with 365 allowing simple backup plans to be assigned for any of its services but it can be taken much further than that to backing up virtual machines or even your own machine. It’s far better to be backed up than sorry, especially if your data is the most business critical thing you have.
We know you’re an android fan, what’s your favourite product and why?
Hmm, of all ‘droid products I must say the hk47 is quite to my tastes. A quick look on youtube will quickly show why. Outsides that Samsung devices typically have the hardware I prefer though I would hardly say I’m a fan.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? Any hobbies?
Reading science fiction and fantasy.
If you had to delete all your apps on your phone bar three, which three would you keep?
Google maps as its one of my most used applications, Microsoft authenticator as I need it for work, and the phone call app so it can live up to its description as a ‘phone’ and actually call things.
What are the three items you would take with you to a deserted island?
- A good axe
- A Solar panel
- And a tablet with as much media as I can cram on it!
